Starry Night, With Love

I drew and designed this star ornament using a cookie cutter pattern and a book of embriodery. The brown vines are a backstitch and a whipped backstitch. The berries are french knots. The two pieces of felt are held together with a blanket stitch.
I designed two other ornaments, but I haven't ventured to cut out and stitch those yet. My other designs are a bell and a dove. I hope to have those ready for gifts next year.

It has been a great experience learning all these new stitches and designing something on my own. I've given out handmade gifts to my family along with the store-bought gifts I've gotten for them.

I'm looking forward to a few days off! We are having friends over for an Iron Chef supper club tomorrow night. Secret ingredient? Cinnamon!
Christmas Eve is dinner at our house with lots of goodies: pear and arugula salad, beef wellington, rosemary roasted potatoes, roasted asaparagus with parmesan, and a caramel chess tart!
Merry Christmas, everyone! Have a safe and joyous holiday.

I love it! You did an awesome job on it!! I cannot wait to see the others once you finish them. Also you must tell us how the supper club goes and what all you have.

Between you and Leah I'm getting the urge to start stitching! Can't wait to hear about your creations with Battle Cinnamon! And have fun with your Beef Wellington, sounds like quite the menu!

Your home looks so beautiful and festive - like right out of Southern Living!
I have some embroirdery (sp?!)stuff I will give you --- did a little but most likely will never pick it up again after the baby is born!
Merry Christmas and hope to see you soon :-)

I made Lamb Rogan Josh (recipe from Food + Wine) with extra cinnamon spice. It was delicious! I used the local, grass fed lamb I got from Livingston Spring Farms. Deboning a lamb shoulder may be the most difficult thing I've ever attempted in the kitchen.

Our friends made some really yummy cinnamon roasted garbanzo beans and indian-scented rice with green peas. Both dishes were really good!

Ginger, thanks! Let's get together soon.
