Carolina Wren

A pretty little Carolina Wren made its nest in the bird house hanging from a post on my back porch. For just a couple of weeks this spring I would go outside in the morning and evening to watch mamma bird feed her baby birds in the bird house. Anytime I got too close to the nest, mamma bird would let me know by giving her signature squawk.

Do you see her perching on the porch swing chain?

Then, all of a sudden, they were all gone.

We have a blue bird with babies in one of our bird houses. I want to get some pics of her feeding them. Soon she will be out trying to teach them how to fly

Ginger, it sure does look more like a chickadee than a wren, doesn't it? Maybe my iBird app isn't working so great, Ha... I could have sworn it's calls sounded like the wren. But that black head, white stripe, and smaller beak are those of a chickadee.

DP, I'm not sure what happened to these birdies. I guess I focused my attention on the garden for a couple of days, and the next thing I knew, they were all gone. I never even saw a baby bird just heard them inside the birdhouse whenever mamma bird came to feed them.

Ok so what is the bird app you speak of? Ive been waiting for a bird to nest near our house. One started to then decided against it. I think I read that a wren will build up to 12 nests until the female picks the one she likes!

Casey, I got this app called iBird Explorer, Southern version. I really like it!
